Seoul Theme for VS Code

Seoul Theme is a premium color suite for VS Code, deeply inspired by the traditional colors of Korea (O-bang-saek and Seoul Colors). It is designed to provide maximum visual comfort and aesthetic satisfaction through three distinct moods.

🎨 Themes

1. Seoul Dancheong (단청)

The Vivid Palace.

Seoul Dancheong

  • Mood: Majestic, Clear, Artistic.
  • Concept: Inspired by the vibrant decorative coloring on Korean wooden architecture (Dancheong).
  • Design:
    • Mid-tone UI (Grey-Green Giwa roof tiles) with High-contrast Editor.
    • Vivid accents using O-bang-saek: Dancheong Red (Keywords), Blue (Functions), Green (Strings).
  • Recommended For: Presentations, daylight coding, structure visualization.

2. Seoul Morning (서울의 아침)

The Paper Light.

Seoul Morning

  • Mood: Fresh, Clean, Soft.
  • Concept: Sunlight filtering through Hanji (traditional Korean paper).
  • Design:
    • Soft off-white background to prevent glare.
    • Text in Giwajinhoesaek (Dark Grey) instead of harsh black, resembling ink on paper.
    • Subtle Yubaesaek (Rice color) UI elements.
  • Recommended For: Bright environments, morning work, reading documentation.

3. Seoul Night (서울의 밤)

The Classic Dark.

Seoul Night

  • Mood: Calm, Quiet, Deep.
  • Concept: Like a quiet walk along the Han River at night.
  • Design:
    • Low-contrast, warm earthy tones.
    • Background: Heukbaek (Dark Grey)
    • Text: Sosaek (Warm Beige) and Jangdansaek (Soft Red).
  • Recommended For: Night coding, long sessions, reducing eye strain.

🌿 Philosophy: Visual Comfort

This theme is NOT a port. It is built from the ground up using a strictly curated palette.json based on traditional Korean color standards.

  • Zero Eye Strain: We avoid pure black (#000000) and pure white (#ffffff) where possible to reduce contrast fatigue.
  • Natural Harmony: Colors are derived from nature—soil, rocks, pine trees, and flowers—creating a naturally harmonious look.

🛠 Installation

  1. Open Extensions sidebar in VS Code.
  2. Search for Seoul Theme.
  3. Install and select your preferred mood: Night, Dancheong, or Morning.
