XLSX Editor by Loamstack

Open .xlsx Excel workbooks inside VS Code. Use Reopen Editor With… → XLSX Editor to choose the spreadsheet editor.

Edit cells, formulas, formatting and worksheets through the local Workbook engine. VS Code owns Save, Save As, undo, redo and recovery backups. Workbooks are processed locally; this extension makes no analytics requests and does not upload workbook contents.

The first release supports files up to 25 MiB. Formula and editing capabilities follow the Workbook engine; unsupported workbook features report their limits. Keep an original copy of important workbooks. External file changes block source Save so your draft is retained: use Save As for a separate copy or Revert to reload the source.

VS Code owns its filename tab and breadcrumbs row. To hide that row, run XLSX Editor: Hide IDE filename breadcrumbs in this workspace. This explicit command changes the breadcrumb setting for every editor in the current workspace; it does not change global preferences. View → Show Breadcrumbs can restore it. The workbook editor itself adds no filename header.
