CSV Editor for VS Code

Edit CSV and TSV files as a spreadsheet inside VS Code. Files stay in your workspace. No upload, account, telemetry, or network service is required.

Right-click a .csv or .tsv tab, choose Reopen Editor With…, then CSV Editor. The extension is opt-in, so existing text editing stays available.

• Edit cells and column headers; add and remove records or columns.
• Search records and switch first-row headers on or off.
• Save with VS Code, including native Save, Save As and Auto Save.
• Use native Undo/Redo. Other text editor changes synchronize with the grid.
• UTF-8 text, BOM, line endings, final newline and ragged rows are retained.
• Up to 5 MiB, 50,000 cells and 200 columns. Larger or malformed files stay available through VS Code's text editor.

CSV uses commas; TSV uses tabs. Values remain text, including leading zeros and formula-like values. There is no formula execution. Editing may normalize CSV quoting while preserving field values. Empty input is supported.

If another editor changes a file during a pending grid edit, review the current file. The unsaved draft remains available in a recovery field for copying. Workspace permissions and VS Code's save conflict handling still apply.
