You can use PowerOn Pro in Visual Studio Code to bring your creativity to life for your credit union on the Jack Henry™ Symitar platform. Here are some of the features you can expect..

  • Syntax highlighting, code completion, and multi-document definitions/references — treat yourself to beautiful code highlighting and completion, as well as easily navigate between referenced PowerOn files.
  • Function signatures and hovers straight from Symitar eDocs — know the parameters of the functions as you them, and get the insight you need from the latest eDocs.
  • Direct integration with your Symitar core — stay connected to Symitar with realtime PowerOn validation, deployments, and batch execution from within VS Code.
  • Plus Symitar Explorer — view remote letter, help and PowerOn files for any Sym and take advantage of revamped batch and print control UIs.
  • Plus Symitar integration over HTTP — avoid the nuances of SSH and instead connect directly to your Symitar core over HTTP for a more stable experience.
  • Plus Embedded HTML language support Coming soon — let us take care of those pesky htmlViewLines and instead get rich HTML syntax highlighting and completion.

Syntax highlighting, code completion, and multi-document definitions/references

Treat yourself to full language support for PowerOn with beautiful code highlighting, intelligent completions, and more!

Syntax highlighting

We've mapped out the entire PowerOn language so you can enjoy beautiful code highlighting in your all of your PowerOn files. Additionally, we know there are certain extensions that may follow their own syntax rules. We've got you covered there too!

Supported Extensions: .PO, .RG, .DEF, .SET, .PRO, .SUB, .FM, .FMP

One more thing, we know many of your PowerOn files may not have an extension at all. As you open these, we'll automatically detect the PowerOn language and keep record of the association for future use 😎

Code completions

Freely type away and let PowerOn Pro suggest completions for you. We've got you covered with completions for records, keywords, functions, and more!

Code completions

Definitions and references

Navigate between PowerOn files with ease. Any #INCLUDE you have referenced in a file will be available for you to jump to with a simple click. We also added support for any PROCEDURE you may have defined as well!

Multi-document definitions & references

Code snippets

We've included a few code snippets to help you get started with some of the most common PowerOn constructs. Just type the snippet prefix and hit Tab to expand the snippet.

Function signatures and hovers straight from Symitar eDocs

We took the liberty of integrating the latest Symitar eDocs into PowerOn Pro. Now, you can hover over any function in your PowerOn file and see the function signature, description, and any parameters that are required.

Deploy and Install PowerOns

Choose to deploy or install your PowerOns to your Symitar core.

Execute PowerOns and get batch output

Run your batch PowerOns and get the output directly in VS Code.

Plus Symitar Exporer

User experience is everything. With the Symitar Explorer, you can get managed access to your common Symitar directories like DATAFILES, HELPFILES, LETTERSPECS, and REPWRITERSPECS. Additionally, we're working on revamped batch and print control UIs which should level up the overall end-to-end development experience for Symitar developers - expect to see this sometime in Q2 of '25!

Symitar Explorer

Plus Symitar integration over HTTP

The fastest and most stable integration between the Symitar core and PowerOn Pro. And, it works for everyone!

Plus Embedded HTML language support

Coming Soon • PowerOns with HTML are becoming the standard for creating rich user interfaces available in Symitar - encapsulating these with htmlViewLine can be a bit cumbersome so we're introducing the ability to write HTML directly in your PowerOn files with full language support. We'll handle the translation whenever you choose to deploy!

Plus Develop independent of Symitar Quest

Coming Soon • We figured if you're going to write PowerOn outside of Symitar Quest, it makes a lot of sense to also have the ability to develop the full suite of PowerOn capabilities. That said, we're working on a way for you to render interactive on-demand PowerOns against target accounts and even bounce SymX instances all without having to log into Symitar Quest.

Contributing

We at Libum are committed to improving the development experience for Symitar developers. The best way for you to contribute / get involved is communicate ways we can improve the PowerOn Pro feature set.
