LeoCode by LeonardX

LeoCode is a native Visual Studio Code extension project that connects to the existing LeonardX account and Leo chat APIs. It does not bundle an AI provider key or run commands generated by the model.

Current functionality

  • Connect an existing LeonardX account using the platform's sign-in API. The password is requested only for the sign-in operation; access and refresh tokens are held in VS Code SecretStorage.
  • Open Leo chat inside VS Code and use the authenticated /api/chat endpoint.
  • Send a bounded active-file/selection context after excluding credential files and redacting common secret assignments.
  • Use the existing server-side MCP/tool path only when the user explicitly selects tool mode in chat.
  • Discover and run only specialist agents returned for the signed-in account; the existing agent API still enforces plan access and approvals.
  • Explain or review the active file, request code, generate tests, and preview/apply an extracted code block after confirmation.
  • Inspect the current workspace file names without uploading its contents.
  • Read account usage from the authenticated dashboard endpoint.

The model picker uses five LEO-branded configurations backed by distinct Google Gemini model IDs. The upstream model identifiers are cross-checked against the official Gemini models catalog; actual availability for a particular API key is determined by the server's provider response, and no credentials are included in the extension. The chat API currently returns a completed JSON response rather than a token stream, so this extension does not claim streaming.

Founders Early Access accounts share a server-enforced limit of 40 Leo chat and sandbox requests per rolling 24-hour window. The entitlement and usage counter are checked by LeonardX; the extension does not store or enforce the quota locally.

Active editor context is sent to LeonardX when you submit a chat or specialist-agent request. LeoCode excludes common credential files and redacts common secret assignments, but this is a best-effort safeguard, not a guarantee that every sensitive value is detected. Review the active editor and selection before sending. Generated code is shown as a diff and is not applied unless you confirm.

Local development

  1. Install the dependencies in this directory with npm install.
  2. Run npm run compile.
  3. Open this folder in VS Code and press F5 to launch the Extension Development Host.
  4. Open the LeoCode activity-bar view and connect an existing LeonardX account.

The default server origin is https://leoos-omega.vercel.app. A local development origin can be configured through leocode.baseUrl; non-local HTTP origins are rejected.
