Pastel Prism

Pastel surfaces. Vivid code. A colorful light theme for Visual Studio Code.

Pastel Prism surrounds a warm near-white editor with a sky-blue sidebar, lavender tabs, a pale-yellow terminal, and a mint status bar. Violet borders keep panels distinct, while saturated Monokai-inspired syntax uses magenta, green, gold, violet, cyan, and orange instead of red.

Semantic highlighting, TextMate rules, and bracket colors use coordinated accents. Language extensions can affect the exact token appearance. Authored syntax foregrounds are checked for contrast on the editor and selection backgrounds; this is not a claim that every control meets an accessibility standard.

Install

Search for Pastel Prism by jenna-studio in Extensions when available on the Marketplace. After installing, run Preferences: Color Theme and select Pastel Prism.

For a downloaded package, run Extensions: Install from VSIX..., select pastel-prism.vsix, and choose the theme.

On macOS, use "window.titleBarStyle": "custom" to allow the title bar to use theme colors. User color overrides and other interface customizations can change the result.

Native theme and optional CSS

The theme works without a CSS loader, dependencies, or runtime code. Both sidebars use the same native theme background. Extension webviews control their own interiors.

Optional files under customizations/ are included for existing users. They do not run automatically and are not required for the native theme. See customizations/README.md for scope and limitations. Rounded panels and webview restyling are not native theme features.

Preview asset

The package includes images/palette-preview.png, an illustrative palette/workbench mockup. It is not a screenshot of VS Code, and its rounded outer frame is not a native theme feature. The description intentionally embeds no remotely hosted images, so it does not depend on GitHub image availability.
