More Info

IAPL - SFInspector

Salesforce Inspector-like extension for VS Code / Cursor. No runtime dependencies, no build step. It uses the orgs you already authenticated with Salesforce CLI (sf org login web) and talks to Salesforce through the @salesforce/core library bundled with the CLI (a helper process, worker.js). The extension never reads tokens.

Install

Install the VSIX: Ctrl+Shift+P -> Extensions: Install from VSIX... (build it with npx @vscode/vsce package).

Tabs

  • Query - SOQL with autocomplete (fields from the org and the repo's *.field-meta.xml, relationships, subqueries, picklist values, keywords). Run, Explain (query plan), history, saved queries (per project or global, filterable by object), result filter and sort, column selector, row as JSON, copy a column as IN ('a','b') / lines / CSV / JSON, export CSV / JSON, send rows to Import. Double-click a cell to copy it.
  • Objects - object list, fields, picklists, child relationships, "View data".
  • Record - view and edit any record by Id, related records (count / view), delete.
  • Import - paste or load CSV/TSV, map columns, preview, then insert / update / upsert / delete (200 rows per request, per-row results, export results, retry failed rows).
  • Apex - run anonymous Apex, browse and filter debug logs, enable debug logs for your user (60 min).
  • REST - any REST endpoint.

Autocomplete: Ctrl+Space forces it. Ctrl+Enter runs the query / Apex.

Safety

  • The selected org is marked [PROD] with a red banner when it is production.
  • Anything that changes data is confirmed by the extension host: on production you must type the org name; on other orgs imports, deletes and debug-log changes ask for confirmation.
  • Imports are limited by sfInspector.maxImportRows (10000) and the Run button locks after each run (preview again to repeat).

Editor integration

  • .soql files: Run and Save query CodeLens above each query. .apex files: Open in SFInspector Apex.
  • Right-click a selection: Run Selected SOQL / Send Selection to Apex.
  • Commands: IAPL - SFInspector: Open, Run Selected SOQL, Inspect Selected Record Id, Send Selection to Apex.

Settings

sfInspector.defaultOrg, sfInspector.maxRows, sfInspector.maxImportRows, sfInspector.sfCommand (only to locate the CLI), sfInspector.coreModulePath, sfInspector.nodePath (advanced).
