AnyTheme Glow

Add a beautiful neon glow effect to any VS Code theme.

Unlike other neon themes that hardcode specific colors, AnyTheme Glow dynamically reads the native colors of your currently active theme. This allows it to inject a flawless neon text-shadow using your theme's exact syntax highlighting palette.

Features

  • Universal: Works with any dark theme.
  • Dynamic: Automatically adapts to your current text color.
  • Customizable: Adjust the brightness level in Settings.

Demonstration

ON / OFF Comparison: Example 1

💡 How to Enable the Glow

  1. Open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P or Cmd+Shift+P).
  2. Search for Enable AnyTheme Glow and press Enter.
  3. You will be prompted to restart VS Code to apply the changes.

🛑 How to Disable the Glow

  1. Open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P or Cmd+Shift+P).
  2. Search for Disable AnyTheme Glow and press Enter.
  3. Restart VS Code to remove the effect entirely.

Configuration

You can customize the brightness of the glow effect through VS Code settings:

Go to Settings (Ctrl+, or Cmd+,) > Search for AnyTheme Glow.

Available Brightness Levels:

  • Low: Subtle glow.
  • Medium (Default): Noticeable but comfortable glow.
  • High: Vibrant neon effect.
  • Extreme: Maximum cyberpunk intensity.

Note: After changing the brightness, you must run the Enable AnyTheme Glow command again and restart VS Code for the changes to take effect.

Important Note

This extension modifies internal VS Code HTML files to inject CSS. When you enable the glow effect, VS Code may display a warning that your installation "appears to be corrupt".

This is completely normal and safe. Simply click the gear icon on the notification and select "Don't Show Again".

Whenever VS Code updates to a new version, it replaces its internal files. You will need to run Enable AnyTheme Glow again to re-apply the effect.
