Highlights

The headline features of the first public release, v1.0.0:

Pipelines Editor and debugger
Create and edit pipeline graphs, work with their XML, and debug execution without leaving VS Code.

TypeScript with zero setup
Write typed cartridges with SFCC APIs, transpile them for your sandbox, and debug your original TypeScript.

SFCC MCP with 200+ tools
Connect your coding agent to the SFCC workspace and generate project skills for development, deployment, and debugging.

SFCC LSP for JS, TS, DS and ISML
Completion, references, CodeLens, and navigation across scripts, cartridge overrides, and embedded ISML code.

Local Log Center
Turn raw logs into grouped issues, filter the noise, and follow stack frames back to your source.

Full ISML support
Tags, expressions, includes, custom modules, and snippets with completion, navigation, and formatting.

Around them, dedicated managers for credentials, cartridges, connections and WebDAV, deployment, and resource bundles, plus Smart Search, B2C Site Scopes, the Cartridge Path Editor, and built-in XML validation.

Why use Intellij SFCC for VS Code?

A storefront change can take you through several cartridges, a template, a hook, and a sandbox log before you find the cause. Intellij SFCC connects those steps in your editor:

  • Find the code your site actually uses. Follow cartridge overrides, module.superModule, controller routes, templates, and hook implementations using the active connection and site.
  • Get SFCC answers as you type. API completion, documentation, diagnostics, and navigation across JavaScript, TypeScript, Digital Script, and ISML. Bundled dw.* types work without a separate type package.
  • Edit and debug pipelines in VS Code. Work with the pipeline graph and its XML source, set breakpoints, and inspect execution without opening Eclipse.
  • Keep the edit, deploy, and debug loop close. Upload changed files, compare code with the sandbox, step through a request, and follow its logs in the same workspace.
  • Give your coding agent project context. SFCC MCP exposes the workspace's language tools, cartridge structure, debugger, logs, and sandbox operations through configurable access profiles.

Built for storefront developers maintaining SFRA and SiteGenesis projects, integration developers working with hooks and custom APIs, and teams managing multiple cartridges and sandbox connections.

Features

  Pipelines Editor and debugger

  • Open pipeline XML as an editable graph directly in VS Code, or create a new pipeline.
  • Edit start nodes, pipelets, scripts, decisions, and transitions; configure node properties and follow the code behind the flow.
  • Switch between the graph and XML with Show Pipeline Editor and Show Pipeline Source.
  • In pipeline XML, complete script paths, template names, and pipeline endpoints, then Go to Definition to open them.
  • Set pipeline breakpoints and inspect the live execution state with the integrated debugger.

Pipelines Editor guide

  TypeScript with zero setup

  • Write controllers, models, hooks, and helpers in TypeScript with typed dw.* APIs, your project's metadata, and cartridge-aware modules.
  • Start without a separate type package or a tsconfig.json created just for IntelliSense.
  • Upload through the extension to transpile TypeScript to the JavaScript used by the active code version, and inspect the output in the transpilation preview.
  • Set a breakpoint in TypeScript and step through the sandbox request in your original source.
  • Keep transpilation consistent in your release pipeline with the CI/CD guide.

TypeScript guide · CI/CD transpilation

SFCC MCP workspace for AI coding agents

  • Run a local, workspace-scoped Model Context Protocol (MCP) server with 200+ SFCC tools for the full cycle: understand a project, make a change, check it, deploy it, and debug a live request.
  • Connect clients including Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini, and OpenCode with configuration generated for the current workspace.
  • Let the agent ask which cartridge owns a route, what module.superModule resolves to, which fields an API provides, or where an error came from.
  • Generate SFCC skills and project instructions from the B2C MCP panel and add them directly to your project.
  • Choose a Tools & Access profile to control which tools the agent can use, and review its activity.

For example, ask your agent:

“Find the implementation of CheckoutServices-SubmitPayment, explain its cartridge override chain, and show the related hooks.”

Your AI client and model access are provided separately. SFCC MCP guide

If MCP does not start, click Startup logs in B2C MCP or run Intellij SFCC: Show SFCC MCP Startup Logs from the Command Palette. The Intellij SFCC MCP Output channel records startup before the server is available, including launch authorization, process exits, listener errors, and timeouts. On Windows, EACCES can mean a reserved or blocked port; EADDRINUSE means the port is occupied. Set a different intellij-sfcc.mcp.port, retry, and update your AI client's connection configuration if the port changes.

SFCC language server for JavaScript and TypeScript

  • IntelliSense for dw.* APIs, controllers, models, and scripts, with hover documentation, signature help, and inlay hints.
  • Inline diagnostics, quick fixes, Go to Definition, Find All References, document outline, and workspace symbol search.
  • Cartridge-aware resolution of */cartridge/…, ~/cartridge/…, relative, and dw/… module paths using your cartridge order and active site.
  • Follow module.superModule to the parent implementation, with completion for inherited members.
  • Complete SFCC string arguments: routes, hooks, templates, resource keys, and bundle names.
  • CodeLens above routes, hooks, and resource keys shows usages and related implementations in one click.
  • Metadata-aware types: custom attributes appear on .custom, and custom-object definitions inform CustomObjectMgr results.
  • Typed forms: local form XML types server.forms.getForm() results and pdict.CurrentForms in ISML.

Script language tools · JavaScript guide

  SFCC script and pipeline debugger

  • Debug code running on the sandbox selected by your active SFCC connection.
  • Set breakpoints and step through controllers, scripts, hooks, and pipelines from VS Code's Run and Debug view.
  • Debug JavaScript, TypeScript, Digital Script, and pipelines in one session.
  • Inspect variables, evaluate watch expressions, and follow the live call stack.
  • Use conditional breakpoints, logpoints, and exception breaks, and evaluate expressions in the Debug Console with SFCC completion.

Debugging guide

Local Log Center and live logs

  • Open a local log or follow a sandbox stream and explore it as structured information.
  • Group repeated errors into issues, filter by severity, and search the events relevant to a failure.
  • Use the histogram and occurrence counts to see when an issue happened and how often it repeated.
  • Inspect messages and stack traces, then jump to the matching local source.
  • Tail remote logs, switch between parsed and raw views, and export a report.
  • Open individual .log files, including large ones, in the Log File Editor.

Log Center · Log File Editor · Live streaming

  ISML templates

  • Complete ISML tags and attributes, template paths, includes, and decorators, with diagnostics and syntax highlighting.
  • Follow a custom tag to its module declaration and implementing template.
  • Rename a matching tag pair and fold nested markup.
  • Use SFCC JavaScript completion, hover, and navigation inside ${…} expressions and <isscript> blocks, including variables from <isset> and <isloop>.
  • Insert common template structures with ISML snippets, and format templates with the built-in formatter.
  • Catch a bare # in template text as an error, with quick fixes to ${'#'}; Format Document and Organize Imports escape it for you.
  • Configure ISML linting, formatting, and tag colors for your workspace.

ISML language guide

Digital Script and existing Demandware code

  • Open .ds files with syntax highlighting, SFCC API completion, hover documentation, definitions, references, and diagnostics.
  • Resolve legacy importClass, importPackage, and importScript calls.
  • Get typed input and output dictionaries for pipeline scripts.

Digital Script guide

Cartridges, site scopes, and the Cartridge Path Editor

  • Discover and link existing cartridges, create new ones, and link shared modules, in single-cartridge repositories and monorepos.
  • Track overrides across cartridges, compare implementations, and create an override in the cartridge where it belongs.
  • B2C Site Scopes make the cartridge path site-specific: switch the active site and resolution follows it.
  • Edit cartridge order in the visual Cartridge Path Editor, opened by CodeLens from site or global preference XML, instead of a colon-separated string.

Cartridge management · Overrides · Site Scopes · Cartridge Path Editor

  Connections and WebDAV

  • Manage multiple B2C Commerce sandbox connections and organize them into groups.
  • Switch the active instance, code version, and site from the SFCC sidebar and status bar.
  • Import, export, or clone connection definitions, and open Business Manager in VS Code or your browser.
  • Browse sandbox files in the WebDAV explorer: upload, download, create, rename, copy, delete, zip and unzip, and copy between instances.
  • Open remote files for inspection or editing and compare them with their local counterparts.

Connections guide · WebDAV explorer guide

  Deployment Manager

  • Upload on save and watch file changes while developing against your sandbox.
  • Deploy linked cartridges to the active code version, or upload individual changes.
  • Compare local files with their sandbox versions before sending changes.
  • Tune concurrent WebDAV requests for your instance, and manage code versions from the extension.

Deployment guide

  Credentials Manager

  • Store Business Manager accounts, access keys, and OCAPI/SCAPI API clients in an encrypted credentials file shared across workspaces.
  • Keep the unlock key separately in your operating system's secret store.
  • Reuse credentials across connections instead of repeating them in each connection definition.

Credentials guide

  Resources Manager and localization

  • Edit .properties translations side by side across locales in the resource bundle editor.
  • Search resource keys, create missing locale files, and switch to raw source when needed.
  • Follow a key to its usages; usage and localization CodeLens keep that context beside each entry.
  • Complete bundle names and property keys while writing storefront code.

Resource bundle editor guide

Hooks, custom APIs, job steps, and Smart Search

  • Find routes, hooks, job step types, custom APIs, and resource entries by name with Smart Search, and open the declaration or implementation.
  • Browse hook registrations and implementations; complete hook names and functions.
  • Discover custom SCAPI endpoints and explore their schemas and implementation files.
  • Navigate between steptypes.json definitions and job step scripts.
  • Search every pipeline, controller route, hook, step type, and custom API in the B2C Entry Points view, filter hooks by type and area, and open the code behind each one.

Smart Search · B2C Entry Points · Hooks, routes, and custom APIs

  Built-in XML and JSON validation

  • Validate SFCC XML with the bundled validator and schemas, with no separate Java installation or external service.
  • Review inline diagnostics and Problems panel entries before uploading metadata and other SFCC XML.
  • Validate JSON configuration such as hooks and job step definitions against their schemas.

Frequently asked questions

Which Salesforce Commerce platform is this for?

The extension focuses on B2C storefront development: SFCC cartridges, SFRA, SiteGenesis, ISML, scripts, pipelines, and sandbox tooling. Salesforce also calls this product Agentforce Commerce for B2C.

Do I need Eclipse to work with pipelines?

No. Edit pipeline graphs and XML, debug scripts, and follow pipeline execution from VS Code using the included Pipelines Editor and SFCC debugger. Start with the Pipelines Editor guide.

Do I need to set up TypeScript myself?

No. Bundled SFCC types and cartridge detection work in .ts files from the start, and the extension transpiles them for the sandbox when you upload. See the TypeScript guide.

Is there a JetBrains version?

Yes. Intellij SFCC is also available for supported JetBrains IDEs. See the JetBrains documentation for its setup and features. Choose a seat for the editor you use.
