Known Issues

Rendering Issues on Certain Virtualized Linux Environments

An issue has been identified where the extension's WebView may fail to render correctly after the initial splash screen. This can occur under the following specific conditions:

  • Operating System: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9.0, Oracle Linux 9.0, or other related derivatives.
  • Environment: QEMU-based virtualization software, such as UTM on macOS.

This is believed to be caused by a compatibility issue between the virtual machine's 3D graphics acceleration (VirGL) and the graphics driver stack (Mesa) included in that specific version of the OS. This is not a bug within the extension itself.

Recommended Solutions

  1. Upgrade the Guest OS: The most effective solution is to upgrade the operating system within the virtual machine to a newer version (e.g., RHEL 10.0 or higher, Fedora 42 or higher). The newer version includes an updated graphics stack that resolves this incompatibility.

  2. Use Different Virtualization Software: Alternatively, you may consider using a different virtualization solution, such as VMware, which utilizes a different virtual graphics driver stack.
