Assessment Tool

A VS Code extension for completing technical and coding assessments inside the editor.

What you can do

From the Assessment Tool sidebar you can:

  • Open the Tool Hub — home view for available assessment tools
  • Take a Technical Assessment — timed knowledge questions
  • Take a Coding Assessment — a workspace-based coding task with a timer and submission flow

Getting started

1. Receive your ticket

After your application is reviewed, you will receive an assessment ticket ID. Keep it ready — you need it to start.

2. Install the extension

  1. Open VS Code (or a compatible editor such as Cursor).
  2. Go to the Extensions view.
  3. Search for Assessment Tool.
  4. Click Install.

Install ID: huntrole.assessment-tool

3. Open Assessment Tool

Click the Assessment Tool icon in the activity bar.

If no tool is open yet, the Tool Hub opens automatically. From there — or from the sidebar — choose the assessment that matches your invitation.

4. Start your assessment

  1. Select Technical Assessment or Coding Assessment.
  2. Enter your ticket ID.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions carefully before you begin.
  4. Complete the session within the allotted time.
  5. Submit when you are finished.

Please stay focused during the assessment. Leaving the assessment view or using unauthorized help may affect your result.

Assessment types

Technical Assessment

A guided session with 20 knowledge questions (easy, medium, and hard) for the role you applied for. The pass threshold is 80%.

Coding Assessment

A timed, workspace-based challenge. You implement real work in VS Code, run tests as instructed, and submit your results when ready.
