AI Usage Report

See exactly what your GitHub Copilot requests cost, inside VS Code — and turn any sprint or date range into a report you can save as HTML, drop into an Outlook message, or paste anywhere with formatting intact.

No sign-in. No network access. Copilot records the exact credit cost of every request in its session files on your machine, and this extension reads them. Nothing is estimated.

What it does

• Status bar — credits used this month, at a glance.
• Dashboard — daily column chart, breakdowns by model and product, and a monthly allowance meter once you set your plan. Every charted value is also in a table.
• Sprint reports — pick a sprint (from an anchor date and cadence) or any custom range, compared against the preceding period, and export it three ways.

Credits used vs. remaining

"Credits used" is exact — it comes from Copilot's own per-request figure.

"Remaining" is not, and the extension says so. The session files record what a request cost, not how much allowance is left; that only exists in GitHub's billing system. So remaining is your configured plan allowance minus the credits recorded this month.

Set aiUsageReport.plan to see it — Pro 1,500 · Pro+ 7,000 · Max 20,000 credits a month. Copilot Free also includes credits, but GitHub does not publish the figure, so on that plan you get usage without a meter rather than an invented limit. Use custom if you know your own number.

Credits reset at 00:00:00 UTC on the 1st and do not carry over, which is why every date here is UTC.

Requirements

• VS Code with GitHub Copilot Chat, and at least one recorded chat.
• Outlook export is Windows-only and uses PowerShell. Without classic Outlook it falls back to a .eml draft, then to the clipboard.

Privacy

Nothing leaves your machine. No sign-in, no credential, no network request — the extension only reads files VS Code has already written locally. Prompt text is never copied into reports or logs; only its length is recorded. No telemetry.
