Plane for VS Code / Cursor

Manage your Plane issues without leaving the editor.

(Interface available in English, French, Spanish and Italian — follows the IDE display language; other languages fall back to English.)

Features

  • My issues, Created by me and Projects in the sidebar, grouped by state, with filters (project, priority, label, state)
  • Issue panel in the editor or side panel (shown only when an issue is open): title, Markdown/HTML description with formatting toolbar, state, priority, assignees, labels, dates, comments
  • Server-side search as you type (Ctrl+Alt+P)
  • Start work: move the issue to “in progress” and create a git branch in the open repo
  • Create issues from a form, a TODO / FIXME comment, or a code selection
  • TODO → issue: hover, CodeLens and lightbulb on TODO / FIXME. The issue is prefilled and its key is inserted: // TODO [PROJ-12]: …
  • Issue keys in code (PROJ-12): hover with details and quick actions, clickable links
  • Current issue in the status bar, derived from the git branch
  • Quick search, state change, assign to me, copy key, open in browser
  • Git branch creation from an issue
  • Editor notifications: assignment, state change, new comment (assigned, created or opened issues)

Getting started

  1. Command Palette → Plane: Configure connection
  2. Choose Plane Cloud or your self-hosted instance, enter the workspace slug and API key (Plane → Profile → Settings → Personal access tokens).

The API key is stored in the editor’s secret storage.

Privacy & Telemetry

Plane Tracker collects anonymous usage statistics (such as feature usage and OS type) to help improve the extension. No personal data or code is ever tracked. You can opt out at any time by disabling telemetry in your editor settings (telemetry.telemetryLevel: off).

Events are sent to PostHog EU (eu.i.posthog.com). The extension respects the editor’s global telemetry setting. Separately, plane.telemetry.enabled turns off only this extension’s analytics.

Collected: extension version, VS Code/Cursor version, app name, OS (win32 / darwin / linux), UI locale (IDE language, not GPS/country), whether Plane is configured (boolean), and aggregated events (extension_activated, command_run with command id, issue_opened, issue_created, notification_shown, toolbar_action). An anonymous UUID is stored locally.

Never collected by the extension: API keys, tokens, issue titles/descriptions/comments, Plane URLs, workspace slug, project names, emails, file paths, branch names, or TODO contents. The extension does not send country/city/coordinates; PostHog may infer a country from the request IP unless disabled in the PostHog project.
