Your Claude Code plan usage in the VS Code status bar, just right of the Problems counter: three meters with green
bars, each followed by the time until that window resets.
Hover for the full reset times, click to refresh now.
Right-click the status bar and untick Claude Usage to hide it.
Refreshes every 60 seconds while the window is focused (every 5 minutes otherwise) and whenever the window regains
focus.
The Weekly Fable meter only appears on plans that have a Fable limit.
Unofficial. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic.
Requirements
Claude Code, signed in with a Claude subscription (e.g. Pro or Max). API-key sign-ins have no plan limits to show.
Windows or Linux. On macOS, Claude Code keeps its sign-in in the Keychain, which this extension doesn't read yet.
How it works
The extension reads the Claude Code sign-in from ~/.claude/.credentials.json (or
$CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR/.credentials.json) and asks api.anthropic.com for the same usage data Claude Code's own usage
view shows. The token is sent nowhere else, and the credentials file is only read, never written. If the sign-in has
expired, use Claude Code once to refresh it.
The usage endpoint isn't a documented public API, so a change on Anthropic's side can break the meters until the
extension is updated.
