Overview

Koidex is a security extension designed to enhance your development environment's security across all VS-based editors. By utilizing Koidex, it scans all your installed extensions, helping you identify and mitigate potential security risks.

Features

Installation

To install the Koidex Extension in your preferred environment (VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.):

Open your IDE.
Navigate to the Extensions view by clicking the Extensions icon in the Activity Bar or pressing Ctrl+Shift+X.
Search for Koidex.
Click Install to add the extension to your environment.

Koidex's Extension is free for personal use. To begin, create your free account at Koidex.

Authentication

To use Koidex, you need to log in with your Koidex account. There are two ways to do this:

Method 1: Using the Koidex Panel

Open your IDE.
In the Activity Bar, click on the Koidex icon.
In the Koidex panel that appears, click the Login with Koidex button.
Complete the login in the browser window that opens.
You will be redirected back to your IDE automatically.

Method 2: Using the Command Palette

Open your IDE.
Press Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+P (Mac) to open the Command Palette.
Type Koidex: Login and select it from the list.
Complete the login in the browser window that opens.
You will be redirected back to your IDE automatically.

After logging in using either method, Koidex will be ready to use and will automatically begin scanning your installed extensions.

Usage

Scan Results

Scan results appear in the Koidex Last Scan Results panel in the Koidex sidebar.
Each extension is assigned a risk level: Low, Medium, High, or Critical.
Click on any extension in the results to view its full security report on Koidex.

Real-Time Alerts

The extension provides real-time alerts for any new security issues found in your extensions.
A modal notification will appear in your IDE with a View Report button, allowing you to review the full security analysis immediately.

Configuration

Setting	Type	Default	Description
`koidex.scanEveryXHours`	number	`24`	Scan interval in hours. Extensions are re-scanned after this interval expires.
`koidex.scanOnStartup`	boolean	`true`	Automatically scan extensions when the IDE starts up.

Commands

Command	Description
`Koidex: Scan installed extensions`	Manually trigger a scan of all installed extensions.
`Koidex: Login`	Log in to your Koidex account.
`Koidex: Logout`	Log out of your Koidex account.
