! DISCLAIMER: UNSUPPORTED EXTENSION !

This extensions purpose is to provide something

that is not possible to achieve with the default

VSCode native extension API. When installing this you

agree that the author is NOT responsible for any damage

taken by using this extension. There is also no warranty

that this will definitly work.

To provide the feature provided by this extension some

internal/restrictive files of your editor get manipulated(!).

Because VSCode watches this files for modification, you will

see a warning dialog on startup that hints to you that your

copy of VSCode may be damaged and you should reinstall.

This can be checked to never pop-up again.

If you update your Editor you may loose the functionality,

because extensions are normally not intended to use/manipulate those files.

You have been warned, join the dark side ! ;-)

Installation, Usage and Deinstallation (Linux only !)

If you want to uninstall cleanly make sure to follow the steps below,
else you are on your own to fix the errors, that will definitly pop-up.

Installation

  • Install the extension like any other
  • Restart VSCode
  • You will see a warning as described above.
  • A new rocket-symbol on the statusbar should indicate that everything worked.
    • You need to enable the background-image injection on each new VSCode start-up

by clicking on the rocket-symbol once. You may disable the background-image injection by

clicking on the rocket-symbol again. This is some kind of "Toggle Background-Image" feature.

  • In your settings set editor.background-image to an absolute(!) path on your system.
    • Alternative: You may set this to one of these keywords:
      • "blue" (my favourite)
      • "purple"
      • "green"
      • "orange"
      • "black"

    Repository:

    Browse the source on 'git.e-p-s.org'

You are allowed to make use of other stuff as well:
