iKame Claude Code

A VS Code extension that brings the full power of Claude Code CLI directly into your editor — with a rich chat interface, skills, multi-agent orchestration, memory, browser streaming, and task scheduling.

Main Interface

Requirements

  • VS Code 1.85+
  • Claude Code CLI installed and authenticated (claude login)
  • Node.js (bundled with Claude Code CLI)
  • Chrome / Chromium / Edge — for the Browser tool (extension auto-installs @playwright/mcp via npx)

Installation

  1. Install Claude Code CLI and log in:
    claude login

  2. Install the extension from the .vsix file or the VS Code Marketplace.
  3. Click the iKame Claude icon in the Activity Bar to open the chat panel.

Features

Chat Panel

A full-featured chat interface embedded in VS Code:

  • Multi-session — create, rename, favorite, delete, and search sessions
  • Persistent history — sessions saved to ~/.claude/sessions/
  • Full markdown rendering — code blocks with syntax highlighting, tables, links, inline code
  • Thinking blocks — collapsible extended thinking from Claude
  • Token tracking — live display of context window usage (%)
  • Auto-compact — automatically calls /compact when context is near the limit
  • Model switcher — switch between Sonnet, Opus, Haiku inline

Skills (/skillname)

Agent Orchestration

Invoke custom workflows by typing / in the chat input. Skills are Markdown files with a YAML header loaded from:

  1. Custom directory (ikameClaude.skillsDirectory setting)
  2. ~/.claude/skills/ — global user skills
  3. <extension-dir>/.claude/skills/ — built-in skills
  4. <workspace>/.claude/skills/ — per-project skills

Autocomplete activates as you type /. Skills can be created and edited directly from the Skills panel in the sidebar.

Multi-Agent Orchestration

Multi-Agent Fleet

Run a fleet of specialized AI agents — each with 20+ years of simulated domain expertise:

Agent Specialty
tech-lead Planning, task breakdown, coordination
backend-dev API design, business logic, microservices
frontend-dev UI/UX, React/Vue, responsive design
database-engineer Schema design, query optimization, migrations
qa-engineer Test strategy, unit/integration/E2E tests
code-reviewer Quality, standards, bugs, maintainability
security-reviewer OWASP Top 10, auth/authz, vulnerability assessment
  • Async agents — run in the background, tracked via task_notification events
  • Sync agents — real-time tool call tracking in the Agent Sidebar
  • Manager Surface — unified panel showing all active agents and their status

Agents are loaded from ~/.claude/agents/ and <workspace>/.claude/agents/.

Browser Tool (CDP Streaming)

Browser Streaming

Let Claude control a real browser and stream the screen live into a VS Code panel (~15 fps):

  1. Click the ☐ icon in the chat header to enable
  2. Claude navigates, clicks, and interacts with web pages
  3. JPEG frames stream via CDP WebSocket directly into the panel

Chrome is auto-detected on Windows, macOS, and Linux. No configuration needed.

Memory

Store persistent context that Claude carries across sessions:

Type Description
user Your role, preferences, and background
feedback Corrections and validated approaches
project Decisions, goals, and deadlines
reference Pointers to external systems and resources

Memory is stored in ~/.claude/memory/ (global) and ~/.claude/projects/{workspace}/memory/ (per-project), and auto-loaded when opening a new session.

Scheduling

Create recurring tasks using natural language — executed via Windows Task Scheduler, even when VS Code is closed:

"Summarize new PRs every day at 9am"
"Check server logs every hour"
"Every weekday at 9am review open issues"
"Create a report in 5 minutes"

Manage schedules from the Schedules panel: toggle on/off, run immediately, view logs, delete.

Backup & Restore

  • Automatic git snapshot before every request sent to Claude
  • Stored in ~/.claude/backups/{workspace-key}/ as a separate git repo
  • Each backup = one timestamped commit
  • Restore options from the Backups panel:
    • Restore a single file from any snapshot
    • Restore the entire workspace to a snapshot
    • Compare any file with a backup via the native VS Code diff editor
