DocViewKit Omni for VS Code

Open Office documents, PDFs, iWork files, OpenDocument files, and more directly in VS Code. DocViewKit Omni is a fast, private, read-only document viewer powered by DocViewKit Viewer.

Why DocViewKit Omni?

Broad format support, free: DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, PDF, RTF, CSV, OpenDocument, Apple Pages/Numbers/Keynote, legacy Office, WPS Office, XPS, and related templates and macro-enabled formats.
Documents stay local: parsing, rendering, and search run inside VS Code. The extension does not upload documents or send file names and paths to a remote service.
No conversion server: preview files without deploying, maintaining, or trusting a document-conversion backend.
Fast and lightweight: format components load on demand, reducing startup time and resource use.
Useful document tools: navigate pages or sheets, zoom, search, select text, follow safe hyperlinks, and switch interaction modes where the format supports them.

Open a supported file normally, or use Open With… → DocViewKit Omni. The free Viewer includes every available format and retains DocViewKit branding.
