Datamind Oda, the Datamind agent, inside VS Code. Chat with Oda, let it read and change your workspace with your approval, and work with your Datamind minds, jobs and knowledge without leaving the editor.
Requirements
Windows 10 or 11 (x64).
The Datamind Oda desktop app, installed and up to date. The extension runs the agent on the desktop app's runtime, and both apps share your chats.
A Datamind server account with access to Datamind Oda. Ask your administrator if you do not have one.
Getting started
Install the Datamind Oda desktop app.
Install this extension and click the New Chat button at the top right of any editor. Each click opens a new chat in its own tab beside your code, working in the folder you have open; tabs are named after their chats and come back when VS Code restarts. The chat is also in the Activity Bar on the left and the Secondary Side Bar on the right.
Sign in with your Datamind server address when the extension asks.
Use Datamind Oda: Add Selection to Chat (Ctrl+Alt+O) to reference the code you selected, or simply copy lines in the editor and paste them into the chat: they arrive as a reference to the file and lines. Drag files from the Explorer into the chat while holding Shift to reference them, and use Add Terminal Output to Chat from a terminal's menu to share commands' output.
Find earlier chats of this workspace under Past chats (the clock at the top right of the chat), and let Oda write your commit message from the staged changes with the Oda button in the Source Control view.
When Oda asks before changing a file, the change opens in VS Code's diff view. Accept or reject each change, edit the proposal yourself, or reject it with instructions for what to do instead. Oda saves your open files before reading them and can check VS Code's Problems panel after its edits.
If the desktop app is installed somewhere other than the default location, set Datamind Oda: Desktop Path in Settings.
Privacy and security
The agent runs on your computer. The extension reaches it through a local connection protected by a secret created for each session, which websites cannot reach, and requests to your Datamind server use your own account.
