Remoot — your IDE, on your phone

Remoot bridges Visual Studio Code and Cursor to the Remoot mobile app over a secure relay. Pair once with a QR code, keep control of which projects and devices are trusted, and drive Cursor Agent or GitHub Copilot CLI workflows from your phone.

This extension is not a standalone product: you need the Remoot mobile app on your phone to scan the pairing QR, receive agent sessions, and use trusted projects. Without the app, the bridge cannot complete setup.

Remoot mobile app (iOS & Android)

Install Remoot on your device — one link points to the correct store for your platform:

https://onelink.to/sgbut7

You can open that link on your phone, or scan the QR below from another device (e.g. desktop listing) to jump straight to the install page.

Trusted folders

Remoot only targets folders you trust (your projects). The animation shows how trusted folders are added in the mobile app so your phone stays scoped to what you approve.

How to add trusted folders in Remoot

Open the same workspace in your browser — web.remoot.dev

Pair once from the IDE; then your trusted folders, files, terminal, and agent are reachable from any browser tab. Same relay, same trust model — no second pairing.

  • Composer — Ask / Agent modes from any browser, with @-mention to attach files
  • Files & editor — open, edit, save the same trusted folders straight from the web
  • Terminal — live ANSI output streamed from your IDE
  • Plan mode + multi-workspace switching available on Remoot Pro

Sign in at web.remoot.dev with the same email you use on the mobile app. Web Pro is billed through Stripe and is independent of any mobile subscription.

Highlights

Instant pairing QR in the side panel — no long tokens in chat or email.
Scoped access Trusted projects and devices so the phone only reaches what you allow.
Your stack Extension-only, hybrid (IDE + background daemon), or daemon-only — pick the mode that fits how you work.
Right agent Auto engine selection, or explicitly Cursor Agent / Copilot CLI in Settings.
Same workspace, any browser Drive trusted folders, files, terminal, and the agent from web.remoot.dev — no second pairing.

Get started

  1. Install this extension from the marketplace (Extension ID: Creatorium.remoot-bridge). Install the Remoot mobile app on your phone first if you have not already — see Remoot mobile app at the top of this page.
  2. Open the panel: Command Palette → Remoot: Show QR Panel, or use the Remoot status bar item.
  3. In the panel, complete CLI setup and sign in, then scan the QR code with the Remoot app.
  4. Optional: Settings → search remoot-bridge to set relay URL, mode, AI engine, and whether new phones need approval.

Built-in walkthrough steps appear after install to guide the same flow inside the editor.

In the IDE

After activation you get a dedicated Remoot view: live connection status, pairing QR, shortcuts for agent and optional background daemon, and tools to manage trusted devices — aligned with the mobile experience.

Requirements

  • VS Code 1.80.0 or newer (see the extension manifest engines field).
  • Terminal streaming uses the best available path on your host (including Terminal Data Write Event where supported), with a stable fallback when it is not.

Cursor and other editors

Some editors source extensions from registries other than the Visual Studio Marketplace. If Remoot does not appear in search, install the .vsix from this listing (Download / Install from VSIX…) or use Open VSX when you publish there for broader discovery.
