This extension helps you learn English naturally while coding in Visual Studio Code.

It combines English flash cards, DeepL translation, and Git Commit quizzes so you can improve your English efficiently in your everyday development workflow.

Requirements

DeepL-based translation requires a DeepL API key.

1. Create a DeepL account: https://www.deepl.com/pro

2. Get your API key: https://www.deepl.com/pro-account/plan

3. Set it up:

Run the following command from the Command Palette:

DeepL: Set API Key

Then enter your API key.

Usage

Flash Cards

Open the Command Palette and run:

Developer English Trainer: Show

or press:

Ctrl + Shift + Z

or click the Status Bar icon.

Translation

1. Select a word or phrase in the editor.
2. Run the translation command.
3. The translation result will be shown immediately.

Git Commit Quiz

Prerequisite

The commit quiz must be turned on. If it is off, the Git Commit quiz will be disabled.

How it works

When a Git commit completes successfully, the extension automatically shows a random set of 3 quiz questions.

This lets you learn English naturally while continuing your daily development work.
