An AI-powered Python tutor built into VS Code. Ask questions in the sidebar and
get help right where you're writing code — no local setup, no Docker, nothing to
run on your machine.
For students
Install the extension.
Click the mortar-board icon (🎓 "AI Python Tutor") in the Activity Bar to
open the chat.
Ask your first question. The extension opens your browser once to sign in with
your @cofc.edu / @g.cofc.edu account, then you're chatting with the tutor.
That's it. The tutor itself runs on the course server, so you don't install or
start anything else.
Handy features
Ask the tutor: type a question in the sidebar and press Send.
Add code to chat: select code in the editor, then press
Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+L (or right-click → Add to AI Tutor Chat) to send it along
with your question.
Sign in / out: use the sign-in button at the top of the chat panel, or the
AI Python Tutor: Sign In / Sign Out commands.
Requirements
VS Code 1.85 or newer.
A College of Charleston (@cofc.edu / @g.cofc.edu) account for sign-in.
