Eve AI for VS Code
Eve AI is the coding agent by CHAMPREP, right in the Visual Studio Code sidebar. Ask about your code, plan changes, and let Eve edit files in your workspace when you allow it. Eve AI was formerly called CHAMPREP AI; both names refer to the same agent and both keep working.
Features
- Ask and plan safely: by default Eve reads your workspace to answer questions, explain code and plan changes without modifying any file.
- File edits only with your approval: tick Apply file edits and confirm once for that message before Eve changes files in the workspace folder.
- Add selection to chat: right-click selected code and choose Eve AI: Add Selection to Chat to give Eve exactly the context you mean.
- Shared conversations: pick up conversations you started on the web, desktop, mobile or in the CHAMPREP CLI.
- Full agent in the terminal: open the complete interactive agent (
champrep ai) in a VS Code terminal with one click, for work that needs shell commands.
- Chrome browser context: with the CHAMPREP Chrome extension, attach the active tab or page content, capture a screenshot or open a URL in Chrome.
- Multiple accounts: sign in with more than one CHAMPREP account and choose which one each VS Code window uses.
Install
Install the extension from the Visual Studio Code Marketplace: open the Extensions view, search for Eve AI, and select Install. Or run:
code --install-extension champrep.champrep-ai
Install the CHAMPREP CLI 0.3.6 or later from cli.champrep.com. Eve AI uses it to sign you in, keep your credentials in your operating system's keychain, and run the agent. If the CLI is not on your PATH, set champrepAi.cliPath to its full path. To upgrade an existing CLI, run champrep upgrade.
Open a folder and trust the workspace when VS Code asks. Eve works only in trusted workspaces.
Sign in
Open Eve AI in the Activity Bar and select Sign in, then choose one of:
- Browser sign-in: approve the request on the CHAMPREP sign-in page, then enter the 8-digit code it shows into VS Code. A link is also offered for signing in from another browser or device.
- API key: paste a CHAMPREP API key that has the
ai:agent scope. The CLI checks it and stores it in your keychain.
Use Eve AI: Select Account (or the account name in the status bar) to switch accounts, and Eve AI: Sign Out of Selected Account to sign out.

Settings keep their champrepAi.* names after the rename to Eve AI.
Commands
All commands are in the Command Palette under Eve AI: Sign In, Select Account, Sign Out of Selected Account, New Chat, Add Selection to Chat, Open Full Agent in Terminal, Refresh, and the Chrome commands (Check Chrome Extension Status, Attach Active Chrome Tab, Attach Active Chrome Page Content, Capture Chrome Browser Screenshot, Open URL in Chrome Browser).
For keybindings, each command has two IDs that do the same thing: the original champrepAi.<command> (for example champrepAi.newChat) and the alias eveAi.<command> (for example eveAi.newChat).
