Highlight and annotate Markdown and text documents in VS Code — with the same engine
as the Notestark extension for Chrome, so a mark made in one shows up in the other.
What it does
Six colours and an underline, combinable, from the command palette or the
right-click menu (Notestark: Highlight Yellow, Notestark: Underline, …).
Notes on a passage (Notestark: Add or edit note), and a list of every mark in
the file (Notestark: Go to mark...).
The Notestark Reader: open a .md file rendered as a document, with the mark
list, the notes tab and note cards beside it (Notestark: Open in Reader, or
Reopen Editor With… → Notestark Reader).
Marks survive edits: each mark is anchored by its text and the text around it,
so it follows the passage when the file changes.
Sync (optional)
Notestark: Sign in with Google or Apple connects the extension to your NoteStark
account, so the same marks appear in the Chrome extension and the NoteStark app.
Highlights, notes, titles, file names and the text of marked files are encrypted on
your computer (AES-256-GCM) before they are sent to sync.notestark.com; the server
cannot read them. Without signing in, nothing leaves your computer.
The encryption key is created by the NoteStark app, so sign in and sync there once
before signing in here.
