Bytos 1.0 (sapmdg.com) - SAP ABAP/MDG

Bytos 1.0 brings SAP MDG and ABAP expertise into VS Code Copilot Chat — powered by Bytosis knowledge at sapmdg.com.

Requirements

• VS Code 1.104+
• GitHub Copilot Chat (individual Free / Pro / Pro+; org policies may disable BYOK models)
• A Bytos API token (mdg_live_…) from sapmdg.com → Profile → API access

Install (sideload)

cd vscode-bytosis-lm
npm install
npm run compile
npx vsce package --no-dependencies

In VS Code: Extensions → … → Install from VSIX… → select the generated .vsix.

Configure

1. Open Chat → model picker → Manage Models (or Language Models).
2. Find Bytos 1.0 (extension: Bytos 1.0 (sapmdg.com) - SAP ABAP/MDG).
3. Set API token to your mdg_live_… key.
4. Optional: change base URL (default https://sapmdg.com).

Use

Select Bytos 1.0 in Copilot Chat. The model advertises tool calling so it can appear in Agent pickers.

Bytos MCP (Agent tools)

This extension registers Bytos MCP (sapmdg.com) → https://sapmdg.com/mcp (streamable HTTP).

1. Command Palette → Bytos: Set MCP API Token (or reuse bytosis.apiKey).
2. In Agent / Copilot tools, enable Bytos MCP / tool bytos (and related conversation tools).
3. Ask MDG questions; the agent can call Bytos over MCP.

Official MCP Registry metadata lives in the repo under mcp-registry/ (com.sapmdg/bytos). Publish steps: mcp-registry/PUBLISH.md.

Note: The chat model answers through /v1/responses and does not run VS Code workspace tools itself. For Agent + workspace edits + MDG knowledge, use Copilot/Codex Agent with Bytos MCP.
