macOS Automator for VSCode

Runs macOS Automator workflows on files directly from VS Code.

Usage

Right-click any file in the Explorer and choose Quick Actions..., or select a file and press Q. A picker appears showing every installed workflow compatible with that file type — pick one and it runs.

Workflows that require no file input (e.g. system utilities) appear in the picker regardless of what's selected and can also be run from the command palette via Automator: Quick Actions....

Workflow discovery

The extension scans these directories automatically:

  • ~/Library/Services — your personal Quick Actions
  • /Library/Services — machine-wide workflows
  • /System/Library/Services — built-in Apple workflows

Add extra directories under Settings → macOS Automator → Additional Workflow Paths.
