This extension is used to manage translations in AL development

Features

Use the following actions to manage the translations inside of an AL development project

Actions:
Create Translation.json
Translate Translation.json With Microsoft Tranlsation API
Create .xlf from Translation.json

How to use

After making a change to the captions or labels in the code, the global translation file (.g.xlf) should be updated by compiling the project. From the newly generated global translation file the Translation.json can be generated by running the action "Create Translation.json".

In the Translation.json the translations can be modified*. The action "Translate Translation.json with Microsoft API" can automatically fill in translations where needed.

If you want to test the translations locally, you can use the action "Create .xlf from Translation.json" to generate the .xlf for each language used in the project.

If you are happy with the new translations, you may create a pull request from your dev branch. If the Translation Pipeline is in use in the project, make sure to exclude the language-specific .xlf files from the commits and pull request, since the Translation Pipeline will generate those from the most recent version of the develop branch.

*Note that the english translation cannot be modified. To modify the english translation, the entire caption needs to be modified.

Extension Settings

Microsoft API Key - is used to access the Microsoft Translation API
Translate to French - is used to define whether french translations should be created
Translate to Italian - is used to define whether italian translations should be created
