Run the code examples from your Booster LEAP courses in VS Code with one click.
How it works
On a lesson page, press Run in VS Code under a code example.
Your browser asks to open Visual Studio Code. Allow it (you can tick "Always allow").
The extension downloads that example, saves it in Documents/BoosterLEAP/<course>/<lesson>/, opens it and
runs it in VS Code's terminal. You see the output there and can type input.
The first time in each lesson, it shows you the code and asks before running it. Examples you changed in the
browser are always shown first.
Languages
Language
Needs
Python
Python 3 from python.org. Libraries such as pandas: the extension offers to install them with pip.
Java
JDK 11 or newer (we recommend Eclipse Temurin JDK 21 from adoptium.net)
C++
g++ (MSYS2 on Windows, build-essential on Linux) or clang++ (Xcode command line tools on Mac)
SQL
Python 3 (examples run on Python's built-in SQLite)
The setup guide walks you through each one. Use Booster LEAP: Test my
setup from the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P) to check what's installed.
Privacy and safety
The extension only opens links from placement.boosterleap.com, and only runs examples downloaded from there with a
pass that is valid for 5 minutes.
It never sends files from your computer anywhere. "Test my setup" sends only the versions of VS Code, Python,
Java and the C++ compiler it found.
Settings
boosterleap.folder: where examples are saved (default Documents/BoosterLEAP).
