ShiftLog - Overtime & Activity Tracker

ShiftLog automatically tracks your coding activity and git commits against your real work schedule, so overtime is measured instead of guessed. It runs quietly in the background, syncs to a live web dashboard, and emails you an AI-summarized report when your day is done.

Features

  • Schedule-aware overtime - weekdays, a Saturday half-day, Sundays off, and public holidays are all built in and configurable from the dashboard, with a visual calendar for holidays.
  • Any git host, or none - commits are tracked locally regardless of whether the repo is pushed to GitHub, GitLab, or nowhere at all.
  • Offline-first sync - activity is recorded the moment it happens and queued for sync, so a dropped connection never loses progress.
  • Multi-machine, one timeline - open the same project from a laptop and a desktop and ShiftLog consolidates the totals into a single, accurate record.
  • AI-summarized reports - daily and weekly reports land in your inbox with a summary of what you actually worked on.
  • Live analytics dashboard - overview, per-project drilldowns, streaks, churn, and hour-of-day activity.
  • Free and Premium plans - the Free plan covers a couple of projects and 30 days of history; Premium unlocks unlimited projects, full all-time history, weekly reports, and report sharing links.

Getting started

  1. Install this extension.
  2. Open your ShiftLog dashboard and sign in with Google.
  3. Copy your API key from the dashboard's Profile tab (or run ShiftLog: Set API Key below and paste it there).
  4. Set shiftlog.serverUrl in your VS Code settings to your dashboard's URL.
  5. That's it — heartbeats and commits sync automatically, and reports send on their own each day.

Commands

  • ShiftLog: Set API Key - connect this machine to your ShiftLog account.
  • ShiftLog: Open Settings Panel - a branded panel showing connection status, plus quick links to your dashboard and billing.
  • ShiftLog: Send Report Now - trigger today's report immediately instead of waiting for the nightly send.
  • ShiftLog: Show Today's Summary - a quick reminder of where today's tracking lives.
  • ShiftLog: Open Settings - jump to the native VS Code settings page for shiftlog.* options.

The full dashboard - live overview, analytics, billing, and project configuration - lives at your shiftlog.serverUrl.
