Copilot Chat Exporter

This VS Code extension adds a Copilot Chats view to the Explorer. It lists GitHub Copilot Chat conversations found in the currently opened VS Code workspace, with an export action for each chat.

Use

  1. Open a folder or workspace in VS Code.
  2. Find Copilot Chats in the Explorer sidebar.
  3. Use the export icon next to a chat (or select the chat) to save that conversation as its own HTML file.
  4. Use the refresh button in the view title to rescan local history.

The extension checks the current workspace's VS Code User/workspaceStorage JSON/JSONL files. It does not use a public Copilot chat-history API. VS Code storage formats can change, so sessions that are not represented as readable JSON or JSONL may not be exportable.

Build

Run npm install, then npm run compile.

Publish it on the VS Code Marketplace Create a Marketplace publisher and note its publisher ID. In package.json, replace "publisher": "local" with that ID. Also review the extension’s name, version, README, and license. Create a Marketplace publishing token, then run:

Publishing makes the extension publicly available. Increase the version in package.json for future releases. The official publishing guide covers publisher setup, tokens, packaging, and publishing.
