AI Training Jobs for VS Code

Paid AI training work for software engineers, in your sidebar.

AI labs and the platforms that serve them hire engineers to write code, review model output, build evaluation tasks and test AI agents. This extension lists those open roles from AITraining.jobs, with the pay shown on every row, and tells you when new ones appear. It is a plain list of real roles. You do not need an account or an API key.

Roles come from platforms such as Mercor, micro1, Outlier and Alignerr, and from about 60 more. Each role links to its page on AITraining.jobs, which sends you on to the hiring platform to apply.

Features

  • Open roles view. A briefcase icon in the activity bar opens the list. Each row shows the role title, then the pay and the platform. Hover for the kind of work, the location and the date it was listed. Click to open the role in your browser.
  • Starts with software work. By default the list shows coding and agentic evaluation roles, newest first, 50 at a time. A last row, "More roles on AITraining.jobs", opens the full list on the website.
  • Search. Look up a keyword such as python, rust, evaluation or a platform name. Results appear in the same view. Clear the search to go back.
  • Filter by kind. Pick any of the 12 kinds of work: RLHF and model evaluation, Coding, STEM and math, Domain experts, Agentic evaluation, Data labeling, Robotics data, Multilingual, Audio and speech, Writing, Red teaming and Research studies.
  • Sort. Switch between newest first and highest pay first.
  • New roles at a glance. A status bar item with a briefcase icon and a count, such as "3 new", counts the roles matching your settings that were first seen since you last opened the view. It disappears when there is nothing new, and clicking it opens the view.
  • Background check. The extension checks on a schedule you set and can show a message with a Show button when new roles appear. Both are optional.

Settings

Setting Default Description
aitrainingJobs.kinds ["coding", "agentic-eval"] Kinds of roles to show and to check for. An empty list means every kind. Valid values: rlhf-eval, coding, stem-math, domain-expert, agentic-eval, data-labeling, robotics-data, multilingual, audio-speech, writing, red-teaming, research-studies.
aitrainingJobs.minHourlyUsd 0 Only show roles paying at least this many US dollars per hour. 0 means any pay.
aitrainingJobs.country "" Two-letter ISO country code, for example US. Empty means all countries.
aitrainingJobs.checkIntervalMinutes 60 Minutes between background checks for new roles. The minimum is 15.

Your kind, pay and country settings apply to the list, to search results and to the new-role count.

Privacy

This extension has no telemetry and no analytics, and it needs no account.

What it sends: an HTTPS GET request to https://aitraining.jobs/api/v1/jobs. The query string contains your selected kinds, your minimum pay and country if you set them, your search keywords if you searched, the sort order, a result limit, and src=vscode-extension so AITraining.jobs knows the request came from this extension. As with any web request, the server also sees your IP address and the user agent aitraining-jobs-vscode. No cookies and no identifiers are sent.

What it never reads or sends: your code, your files, your workspace, your VS Code settings other than the five above, or anything about your machine.

What it stores: two small values in VS Code's own extension storage on your computer, the time of the newest role you have seen and your sort preference. Nothing is stored anywhere else.

When you click a role, it opens in your default browser at AITraining.jobs with src=vscode-extension in the address.

FAQ

Do I need an account or an API key? No. The extension reads a public API that needs no key.

Where do the roles come from? From AITraining.jobs, a job search site for AI training work. It collects open roles from the hiring platforms and shows their pay. Applying happens on the hiring platform. Role links go through AITraining.jobs, and some of them may be referral links.

What does "N new" mean? The number of roles that match your settings and were first seen by AITraining.jobs after the last time you opened the view. If there are 50 or more, it shows 50+.

I do not see the kind of work I want. The default is coding and agentic evaluation. Run AI Training Jobs: Filter by Kind and pick other kinds, or select none to see every kind.

How do I turn off the messages? Set aitrainingJobs.notifyNewRoles to false. The status bar count stays. Messages never appear while the view is open.

The view says "Could not reach AITraining.jobs. Retry". Check your internet connection and click the item to retry. A proxy or firewall that blocks aitraining.jobs also causes this. Details are in the output panel: View, Output, then choose AI Training Jobs. Failed background checks are logged there and never shown as popups.

Which versions of VS Code work? VS Code 1.90 or later.
