Number Orientation in VSCode

Number Orientation is back again! I've lost count of how many different places I've coded Number Orientation, but here's another.

If you want the full experience, check out the original Number Orientation here now: https://aidenbc.com.au/number_orientation/

Number Orientation is a combination puzzle game (so if you like Rubik's cubes, you'll love Number Orientation) where you need to rearrange a list of numbers and letters using only a certain set of keys.

Controls:

  • a, s, d, f, ... (all keys in that row) = Cycle layer 1, 2, 3, 4, ... forwards
  • z, x, c, v, ... (all keys in that row) = Cycle layer 1, 2, 3, 4, ... backwards
  • , (comma) = Swap the middles of the first two layers
  • . (dot) = Swap the middles of the last two layers
  • space = Cycle the middles of every layer forwards
  • enter = Cycle all layers forwards

Using only these controls, it is possible to achieve every possible permutation of the letters you have (given that you have more than 1 layer and more than 2 characters in each layer, at least). A layer is defined as a group of non-space characters between or beside a space. For example: 1234 5678 (2 layers).
