ADITO View Preview

Early preview, subject to change

This extension is an early technical preview. Its features, behavior, visual appearance, commands, and configuration may change completely at any time, and releases may be incompatible with previous ones. Do not rely on it for daily work, and do not expect a stable feature set, file format, or API.

Visualize ADITO .view.yaml and .viewReference.yaml files in VS Code.

Open a view YAML file and run ADITO: Open View Preview, use the preview button in the editor title bar, or select Open With... > ADITO View Preview. The preview presents a layout tree that follows the supplied view's viewTemplates and viewReferences. It recognizes all view-template YAML types, including generic forms, cards, tables, trees, and lists.

For templates with a Fields section, the preview shows only the entity fields bound by that template and identifies the binding (for example, titleField or defaultGroupFields). For a generic template whose Entity.entityField is #ENTITY without explicit field bindings, the preview shows all associated context fields in their configured order. Card fields are displayed as a compact detail block; table-like templates are displayed as configured columns.

masterDetail layouts are rendered as separate master and detail panes. The view identified by Others.layout.master appears in the left pane. Remaining child views are selectable detail panes on the right; when there is more than one, numbered buttons in the upper-right select the active pane in configured position order. References are resolved across contexts/<name>/views; the singular context/<name>/views layout is also supported. Nodes are clickable and open their source YAML file.

The default context folder is contexts. Change aditoViewPreview.contextsDirectory if the workspace uses another name.

The preview intentionally represents the YAML structure; it does not execute ADITO scripts or attempt to reproduce runtime business behavior. The published ADITO schemas remain the source of truth for YAML validation.

Status

This extension is in an early preview state and is still under active development. Everything described above, including the layout rendering, the commands, and the configuration, can change or be removed entirely in future releases without a deprecation period.
