A2Z Tools for VS Code

Check a domain without leaving your editor. Open the Command Palette, type A2Z Tools, and the result opens as formatted JSON in a new tab.

Commands

Command What it shows
A2Z Tools: DNS Records A, AAAA, MX, TXT and other records
A2Z Tools: DNS Propagation The answer from several resolvers
A2Z Tools: SSL Certificate Issuer, expiry date and TLS protocol
A2Z Tools: HTTP Security Headers Security headers on a website
A2Z Tools: HTTP Headers Response headers and redirects
A2Z Tools: SPF Record The domain's SPF record
A2Z Tools: DMARC Record The DMARC policy and warnings
A2Z Tools: Domain WHOIS Registration details

Select a domain, URL or email address in the editor first and it is filled in for you.

Limits

It works without an account: 10 requests a minute and 100 a day per IP address. A free key from the A2Z Tools developer page gives 60 a minute and 2,000 a day. Add it with A2Z Tools: Set API Key; it is kept in VS Code secret storage.

Privacy

The domain or URL you check is sent to a2z.tools to run the lookup. File contents are never sent, and the extension does nothing until you run a command.
