Scaffold REST APIs, MCP servers and A2A agents from A2D (a2d-ai.com) into Anypoint Code Builder (Mule 4), Python, TypeScript or JavaScript projects, and run them locally as isolated mocks, one at a time or in bulk.
Installation
Launch VS Code Quick Open (Ctrl+P), paste the following command, and press enter.
Browse the REST APIs, MCP servers and A2A agents in your A2D (a2d-ai.com) account, then:
Start from the A2D sidebar. The A2D icon in the activity bar opens a landing page with Connect to A2D
(settings and API key), Open Playground, Open A2D Asset Overview and Deploy local mocks.
Browse them like in the A2D web app (Open A2D Asset Overview): REST APIs / MCP Servers / A2A Agents tabs, card or list view, filters, and per-asset Run locally, Scaffold Mule project(s), Stop mock, Edit mock scenarios, Push to A2D and Open in A2D.
Scaffold a project from them for Anypoint Code Builder (Mule 4), Python, TypeScript or JavaScript. Anypoint Studio projects come from the A2D plugin for Anypoint Studio. You can do one asset or a whole selection at once.
Edit mock scenarios (Edit Mock Scenarios on an asset in the overview) in an A2D-style editor. Save locally, redeploy, or Push to A2D.
Open the A² Playground (A2D: Open A² Playground), the A2D protocol tester, inside the editor. Choose a local folder in its Local Workspace section to save and load your requests. Copy, cut and paste (Cmd/Ctrl+C/X/V) use the IDE clipboard.
Deploy local mocks. Each mock runs fully isolated, with its own port, a frozen snapshot of the asset and its own request log, and it answers the way A2D's hosted mock does. You can deploy one asset, a selection, or all assets of chosen types at once.
Sign in with an A2D API key (Platform > API Keys). The key is kept in VS Code secret storage.
Requirements
VS Code 1.82+ or Anypoint Code Builder. For the Mule projects: the Anypoint Extension Pack (ACB).
For the Python / TypeScript / JavaScript projects: Python 3.10+ or Node.js 18+. Each generated project has a
.vscode/ launch configuration: press F5 to install its dependencies and start it with the debugger.
An A2D account and API key (a2d-ai.com, Platform › API Keys).
Data and privacy
The extension talks only to the A2D URL in a2d.url (default https://www.a2d-ai.com, user settings only) with your
API key, and to the local mocks and the A² Playground on 127.0.0.1. It sends no telemetry. Mock snapshots and logs are
stored in ~/.a2d on your machine.
