⏰ Smart Break Reminders

After a configurable period of coding activity (default: 45 minutes), DevBreak will gently nudge you to take a break with a notification offering to open a game instantly.

👔 Boss Button

A discreet red button appears while a game is open. One click instantly closes the game panel and returns you to your code. The button can be hidden or shown using the toggle eye icon — so it's only visible when you need it.

🎮 Game Hub

Open the full hub (DevBreak: Open GameHub) to browse all available games in a sleek, retro-futuristic UI.

🚀 Usage

Method 1 — Status Bar (Easiest) ⭐

Look at the bottom-right corner of your VS Code window. You'll see:

🎮 DevBreak

Click it anytime to instantly open the GameHub. It's always visible, no matter what file or workspace you're in.

Method 2 — Command Palette

  1. Open Command Palette: Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+P (Mac)
  2. Type DevBreak: to see all available commands
  3. Select a game or open the games hub
  4. Play, relax, then click ← Back to return to the hub

Method 3 — Direct Command ID

Press Ctrl+Shift+P, type or paste devbreak.openHub, and hit Enter.

Boss Button

  • Appears in the bottom-right corner when a game is active
  • Toggle visibility using the small eye icon above it
  • Click 👔 Boss Coming! to instantly close the panel

⚙️ Optional Configuration

DevBreak works out of the box — no setup needed. There's only one optional setting worth knowing:

Setting Default Description
devbreak.reminderInterval 45 Minutes of coding before a break reminder (set to 0 to disable)

Configure via Settings > DevBreak GameHub or use the DevBreak: Set Break Reminder Interval command.

🧠 Philosophy

"The best developers take deliberate breaks. DevBreak makes breaks fun."

Short gaming breaks (2–5 minutes) help reset focus, reduce eye strain, and actually improve productivity. DevBreak GameHub brings this directly into your workflow — no context switching, no browser tabs.

☕ Support

If DevBreak has saved your sanity during a long coding session, consider buying me a coffee! It keeps the project alive and new games coming.
