🌴 GTA Vice City Game - VS Code Extension

Play GTA Vice City directly inside your VS Code window! Whether you want to play in a full editor tab or inside the sidebar while writing code, this extension brings the retro 1986 vibe right to your IDE.

🛑 Disclaimer

This extension is a 100% independent, open-source project. It does not bundle, host, distribute, or redistribute any copyrighted game assets. It acts purely as a Webview wrapper (iframe container). Users are solely responsible for ensuring they comply with local laws and copyright rules.

✨ Features

  • Dual-Play Modes:
    • Full Tab: Open a full-sized editor tab for immersive gameplay.
    • Sidebar Console: Play in a compact sidebar right next to your editor window!
  • 💾 Universal Global Saves: Your game progress is seamlessly saved to VS Code's global storage whenever you save at an in-game safehouse. No need to manually manage files—your saves travel with you across any workspace!
  • 🎮 Gamepad Support: Play with your Xbox or PlayStation controllers connected via USB or Bluetooth.

🚀 How to Use

1. Launch the Game

  • Full Tab: Open the Command Palette (Ctrl+Shift+P or Cmd+Shift+P) and run GTA Vice City: Play Game.
  • Sidebar Console: Click the GTA Logo in your VS Code Activity Bar (left panel) to open the Vice City console.

💾 Save & Progress Guide

The game natively supports 8 internal save slots. Here is how your progress is managed:

  1. Play the game and head over to the Ocean View Hotel or any other safehouse you've unlocked.
  2. Walk into the spinning floppy disk icon.
  3. Select any of the 8 save slots to save your game.

That's it! The extension automatically hooks into your VS Code's Global Storage (IndexedDB). Your saves are universal, meaning you can open any folder or workspace in VS Code, launch the game, and seamlessly resume from your last save point. No manual file management required!
