Pack Star Wars Galaxies assets into game-ready .tre archives directly from the VS Code Explorer. Right-click any folder or multi-file selection and ship a clean archive that matches the client's expected format.

What it does

  • Right-click a folder → SWG: Package Folder to TRE
  • Right-click one or more files → SWG: Package Selected Files to TRE
  • Uses TRE version 0005 by default with smart compression and MD5 blocks for client integrity
  • Preserves relative paths so assets load exactly where the engine expects
  • Runs a quick post-build validation to catch structural issues before you share

How to use

  1. Open your SWG workspace in VS Code.
  2. In the Explorer, select a folder or multi-select files.
  3. Choose the SWG TRE Packager command from the context menu.
  4. Pick the save location and wait for the success toast. That's it.

Settings

  • swg-tre-packager.defaultVersion (default 0005) — target TRE version.
  • swg-tre-packager.compressFiles (default true) — attempt per-file zlib compression.
  • swg-tre-packager.compressToc (default true) — compress TOC block.
  • swg-tre-packager.compressNames (default true) — compress filename block.
  • swg-tre-packager.outputDirectory (optional) — force all builds into a specific folder.
  • swg-tre-packager.showNotifications (default true) — toggle toast messages.

Thanks

Huge thanks to the SWG New Beginnings community for the testing, feedback, and motivation to ship tooling that keeps the galaxy alive.
