What is this?

DevMotivate is a VS Code extension that makes coding feel less boring and more like a game.

Instead of just staring at your screen for hours, it:

• Gives you XP while you code
• Levels you up through ranks
• Shows motivation when you save files
• Roasts you if you stay idle (yes, really!!!!)

Why I built this

Honestly, I used to lose focus a lot while coding.

Sometimes I’d:

• Get distracted
• Feel bored doing repetitive tasks
• Lose motivation during debugging

So instead of forcing myself to stay disciplined… I thought — why not make coding fun instead?

That’s how DevMotivate was born.

How it helps me

Now when I code:

• XP system makes me want to keep going
• Ranks make progress visible
• Quotes keep me motivated
• Roasts push me back when I slack

It actually feels like I’m progressing in something, not just “working”.

How to use

1. Install the extension (.vsix file)
2. Start coding normally
3. Save → get motivation
4. Stay idle → get roasted
5. Keep coding → gain XP

Final thought

I didn’t just want a productivity tool. I wanted something that makes coding enjoyable.

And honestly… this worked for me.
