Installation
- Open VS Code
- Go to Extensions (Ctrl+Shift+X / Cmd+Shift+X)
- Search for "Time Stats"
- Click Install
Usage
- Click the Time Stats icon in the Activity Bar (left sidebar)
- The Statistics view will open showing your coding activity
- Use the period buttons (DAY, WEEK, MONTH, YEAR) to view different timeframes
- Hover over chart bars to see detailed language breakdown
- Click the ⟳ Refresh button to manually update the data
How It Works
Time Stats monitors your activity in VS Code and stores the data in a local SQLite database. The extension:
- Tracks idle time (activity pauses)
- Records which files you're editing
- Calculates time spent per programming language
- Displays everything in a beautiful, interactive dashboard

All data is stored locally on your machine. No information is sent to external servers.
