UStudio – C++ Workflow for Unreal Engine
A fast, lightweight, and modern C++ and Blueprint workflow for Unreal Engine 5 in Visual Studio Code.
Turn VS Code into a first-class Unreal Engine development environment with instant IntelliSense, real-time reflection sync, Blueprint references, and seamless editor integration—using a fraction of the RAM of heavyweight IDEs.
✨ Features at a Glance
⚡ Real-Time Reflection Sync (Pro)
Never wait for UnrealHeaderTool just to clear red squiggles in .cpp. When you declare a UFUNCTION with Server, Client, NetMulticast, BlueprintNativeEvent, or WithValidation, UStudio automatically synthesizes the matching _Implementation, _Validate, and Execute_ declarations in real time.
💡 One-Click C++ Implementation Generator (Pro)
Hit Ctrl+. on any method declaration in .h to generate its implementation in .cpp instantly.
- Supports single methods or batch generation for multiple selected methods.
- Automatically creates matching
_Implementation and _Validate bodies for Unreal RPCs and events.
- Automatically handles default return values and
Super::Method() overrides.
🧭 Smart Bidirectional F12 Navigation (Pro)
- From
.h to .cpp: Pressing F12 on any method (including Server_Throw) jumps straight to its implementation (Server_Throw_Implementation) in .cpp.
- From
.cpp to .h: Pressing F12 on ClassName::Method_Implementation jumps directly back to the declaration in .h without getting lost in .generated.h.
- On RPC Call Sites: Pressing
F12 on Server_Throw(...) inside .cpp code navigates straight to Server_Throw_Implementation.
🔍 Instant Indexed References (Pro)
Find all C++ and Blueprint references to any class, method, or property in milliseconds (Alt+Shift+F12), backed by a persistent inverted index.
🔗 Blueprint & Asset CodeLens (Pro)
See how many Blueprints (.uasset and .umap) inherit from or reference your UCLASS, USTRUCT, UFUNCTION, and UPROPERTY declarations directly above your C++ code. Click to inspect connected Blueprints or copy their /Game/... reference paths.
🪄 Visual C++ Class Wizard (Pro)
Create new Unreal C++ classes (.h + .cpp) from an interactive panel. Search through common Unreal classes, your project's existing classes, or any of the 13,000+ indexed Unreal Engine classes with live code preview.
📂 Solution Explorer
A dedicated project tree showing Source/, Plugins/, Config/, and Content/ with right-click menus to create Unreal C++ Classes, Files, Folders (auto-mirroring Public/ and Private/), Rename, and Delete.
🔌 Live Unreal Editor Bridge (UE 5.0 – 5.8)
Double-clicking C++ classes or functions in Unreal Editor's Content Browser instantly opens and focuses your existing VS Code window at the exact file and line number.
🛠️ One-Click Build & IntelliSense Fixer
- Build, Rebuild, and Launch Unreal Editor with one click from the status bar or dashboard.
- Automatically generates and repairs
.clangd, compile_commands.json, and .vscode/c_cpp_properties.json.
💎 Free vs. Pro
UStudio comes with a 14-day fully-featured Pro trial starting on first install. When the trial ends, UStudio continues working in Free mode forever.
