Colour Palette

Colour Palette is a VS Code extension that reads palette definitions from an external JSON file and opens a two-step QuickPick flow to choose a company and then a colour.

Use

  1. Set colourPalette.sourceFile to the JSON file you want the extension to read.
  2. Optionally set colourPalette.defaultPalette to the palette name you want selected first.
  3. Run Colour / Color Palette: Insert Colour from the Command Palette.
  4. Choose a colour swatch entry to insert its hex value into the active editor.

JSON format

The extension accepts either a palettes array or an object keyed by palette name.

The sample workspace configuration provides example company palettes.

{
  "palettes": [
    {
      "name": "Company A",
      "colours": [
        { "name": "Primary", "value": "#0f79be" },
        { "name": "Secondary", "value": "#288172" }
      ]
    },
    {
      "name": "Project N",
      "colours": ["#1d1d1d", "#777584"]
    }
  ]
}

Debug

Use the Run Colour Palette Extension launch configuration in .vscode/launch.json. It compiles the project first and then opens an Extension Development Host.
