Claude Watch

Stop staring at the terminal waiting for Claude Code to finish. Claude Watch notifies you the moment Claude is done — so you can switch away, do something else, and come back exactly when needed.

How it works

Claude Watch installs a hook into Claude Code's ~/.claude/settings.json. When Claude finishes responding, the hook fires and Claude Watch either sends a system notification or auto-focuses VS Code — depending on your preference.

No terminal parsing. No polling. No fragile hacks. It uses Claude Code's official hook system.

Notification modes

Configure via Settings → Claude Watch → On Complete:

Mode	Behaviour
`notify-only`	System notification appears. Clicking it brings VS Code to front.
`auto-focus`	VS Code automatically comes to front. No notification.
`notify-and-focus`	VS Code comes to front and a notification appears.

The notification only fires when VS Code is not already in focus — if you're already there, nothing happens.

Permission alerts

Claude Watch also watches for tool permission prompts. If Claude is waiting for your approval and VS Code isn't in focus, it will automatically bring VS Code to front so you don't leave Claude blocked.

Installation

Install from the VS Code Marketplace — search Claude Watch.

The extension automatically installs the required hooks into ~/.claude/settings.json on activation and removes them cleanly on uninstall. No manual setup needed.
