Requirements

Installation
- Install the extension from the VS Code Marketplace
- Open a project with a Git repository
- Look for the sparkle ✨ button in your Git panel
How to Use
- Make some changes to your code
- Stage your changes in VS Code's Git panel
- Click the sparkle ✨ button next to the commit message input
- The extension will analyze your changes and generate a commit message
- Review and edit the generated message if needed
- Commit your changes
Extension Settings
This extension contributes the following settings:
claude-code-ai-commit-message-button.authToken: Your Anthropic API key (optional - can also use ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN environment variable)claude-code-ai-commit-message-button.baseUrl: Base URL for Anthropic API (optional - can also use ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL environment variable)claude-code-ai-commit-message-button.model: Claude model to use (default: claude-4-sonnet)claude-code-ai-commit-message-button.maxTokens: Maximum tokens for response (default: 200)
Privacy & Security
- Your code changes are sent to Anthropic's API for analysis
- No code is stored permanently - only used for generating the commit message
- API key is stored securely in VS Code's settings
