Stevai Forge for VS Code

An agentic coding assistant that runs on the Stevai network. Works in VS Code and the editors built on it — Cursor, Windsurf, Google Antigravity.

Two commands

• Stevai Forge: Open Chat — a pair-programming chat that can see your active file.
• Stevai Forge: Agent (edit files + run commands) — the model reads, searches and edits files and runs commands in a loop until the task is done.

Every file write and every shell command asks you first. There is no mode that turns that off. The agent can propose anything; it cannot do anything to your machine without a click.

Setting up

Run Stevai Forge: Sign In from the Command Palette, or just start a chat — it will offer to sign you in. Your browser opens, you press Allow, and you're done. Because that happens in a browser it works with your password, Google, Apple, or your company's single sign-on.

Stevai then appears in the editor's Accounts menu, which is also where you sign out.

What the editor keeps is stored in your operating system's keychain (Keychain on macOS, Credential Manager on Windows, Secret Service on Linux) — never in settings.json, which is plain text, synced between machines, and routinely committed to repositories.

Skills

Skills you have installed at stevai.com — your house style, a process, a domain's rules — are applied here too. The panel names the ones in effect when a session starts, because you should always be able to see whose instructions are steering your assistant.

Skill text is treated as reference material. It cannot grant the agent a permission, and it cannot remove a confirmation step.

Settings

stevai.apiKey is deprecated. If you still have one there it is moved into the keychain on first start and then cleared.

Requirements

VS Code 1.85 or newer, and a Stevai account.
