Typing Speed Tracker

A simple and effective VSCode extension to track your typing speed while coding.

Features

  • Quick Toggle: Use Ctrl+L (or Cmd+L on Mac) to start and stop tracking
  • Real-time Display: See your current WPM and character count in the status bar
  • Session Summary: Get detailed statistics when you finish a typing session
  • Non-intrusive: Works seamlessly while you code without disrupting your workflow

Usage

  1. Press Ctrl+L to start tracking your typing speed
  2. Start typing in any file - you'll see real-time WPM in the status bar
  3. Press Ctrl+L again to stop tracking and view your session results

Commands

  • Typing Speed Tracker: Toggle - Start/stop speed tracking (Ctrl+L)

Status Bar

When tracking is active, the status bar shows:

  • Current WPM (Words Per Minute)
  • Character count
  • Click the status bar item to toggle tracking

Requirements

  • Visual Studio Code 1.74.0 or higher
