This extension opens a Git-only terminal with a git> prompt. Every entered command runs as a Git subcommand, so status runs git status and log --oneline runs git log --oneline. A command beginning with git is passed through unchanged.
Press Tab to complete Git commands, common command options, refs, and file paths; press Tab twice to list multiple matches. Prefix a line with ! to run it as a shell command, for example !ls or !git status. Unprefixed input remains Git-only. Git Shell supports quoted arguments and environment-variable expansion for Git commands. Git and Node.js must be available on PATH.
Choose Terminal: Create New Terminal (With Profile), then select Git Shell. The Git Shell: Open Terminal command is also available in the Command Palette. The terminal starts in the first open workspace folder, when one is available.
