4BEDev - ERD & テーブル定義書 from Laravel source

Draw the ERD and write the table spec from your Laravel source. No app boot required; parsing and exports run locally.

The canvas with the review drawer open

Reviewing relations: confirm, reject, undo

What it does

Reads the files on disk. Migrations are replayed and Eloquent models are parsed without booting the app: no Composer autoload, no service provider, no database credentials. A project with a half-written migration still produces a full diagram.

Table specs your client accepts. Your own .xlsx is filled at the OOXML level, so borders, merged cells, print areas and the company logo survive untouched.

Drift with the cause attached. Because the migrations were replayed, every difference against the live database points back at the migration that should have produced it.

Review, don't hunt. Every relation carries a source and a confidence; A and R clear a drawer of suggestions in about a minute, and every override is a text file you review in git.

Free tier works offline. The canvas, the review panel, Mermaid, PNG/SVG and the IR JSON export work offline. Optional error reporting is controlled separately.

Getting started

  1. Open a Laravel project (a folder containing artisan).
  2. Run 4BEDev: Rescan Project from the command palette.
  3. Run 4BEDev: Open Canvas to see the ERD.
  4. Run 4BEDev: Review Relations to confirm or reject inferred relations with A and R.

Generated state lives in .4bedev/ inside your project - overrides.json, layout.json and config.json are plain text meant to be committed and reviewed like any other file.

Reporting an issue

Run 4BEDev: Report Issue from the command palette, or choose Report Issue on an error notification. The command saves a ZIP locally before displaying its file list, byte sizes, truncation markers and upload destination.

  • Review Files opens the exact archived snapshots, including the manifest. Read the tabs, then choose Continue to return to the confirmation. If the notification disappears, Continue remains available in VS Code's Notification Center.
  • Save As… saves the same ZIP at your chosen location. Canceling leaves the original local ZIP.
  • Send requires an active licence and explicit confirmation. A successful upload returns a reference with a Copy Reference action; a failed upload keeps the local ZIP.

The archive is limited to 5 MiB and each log snapshot to its latest 2 MiB after redaction. JWTs, bearer credentials, URL passwords and the home-directory prefix are redacted, but other paths, table/column names and source excerpts can remain. Review the files before sending. Local reports older than seven days are removed when preparing another report; uploaded reports are private and retained for thirty days.

Requirements

  • VS Code 1.85 or newer. No proposed APIs.
  • A Laravel 9–13 repository on disk.
  • No PHP runtime, no Composer install, no database.
  • Windows, macOS and Linux, including WSL, SSH and dev containers.

Privacy

Parsing, layout, rendering and export run inside your editor. Licence checks and opt-in anonymous error summaries can contact services. Issue-report ZIPs leave your machine only when you explicitly choose Send; they can contain the log details described above.
