SKIA for Visual Studio Code
Use SKIA from VS Code: chat, explain a selection, propose a fix, and analyze a file.
Requirements
- Visual Studio Code 1.85 or later
- A SKIA account at skia.ca
- Network access to SKIA over HTTPS
Sign in
- Open the Command Palette and run SKIA: Sign In, or open the SKIA view in the activity bar.
- A browser window opens on this machine. Sign in with your SKIA email and password.
- When sign-in finishes, you can close the browser tab. VS Code stores a short-lived session token in Secret Storage.
Run SKIA: Sign Out to remove the stored token from this machine.
What you can do
- Chat in the SKIA side panel
- Explain Selection / Fix Selection on highlighted code
- Analyze File for the active editor (you must approve before the file is sent)
- Inline line completion while signed in
Privacy
- Sign-in uses a browser loopback address on
127.0.0.1 with PKCE. The session token is not placed in the browser URL.
- The token is stored only in VS Code Secret Storage. It lasts up to eight hours and is limited to chat and code analysis on SKIA.
- Chat sends the message you type. Analyze sends the file path and file contents you approved. Selection commands send the selected text.
- The workspace cannot change the SKIA API origin in untrusted workspaces.
