Account Switcher for Claude — by PM
Use multiple Claude Code accounts (Office, Personal, Client…) in one editor. Switch with one click, continue your last session on another account, and see every account's usage at a glance.
Works in Antigravity, VS Code, Cursor and other VS Code–based editors, plus a cas command for any terminal.

Features
- Unlimited accounts — each account keeps its own login.
- One-click switching — from the status bar or
Ctrl+Alt+A / Cmd+Alt+A.
- Continue the last session — history is shared, so when one account hits its limit you can continue the same work on another account with
claude --continue.
- Re-login — if an account gets disconnected or expires, the status bar turns yellow and one click logs you in again.
- Usage dashboard — all accounts together: 5-hour session limit, weekly limits, used / left, reset times.
- Status bar — active account plus
5h:4% 7d:14% | project:$0.49 [2m ago]; turns yellow at 75% and red at 90%.
- Token cost — 5h / today / 7 days / month estimate, current project cost, token breakdown (API-rate estimate).
- Prediction — burn rate and when you'll hit the 5-hour limit.
- Workspace pin — opening your office project switches to the Office account automatically.
cas CLI — cas list, cas use office, cas usage, cas resume personal.
Install
- Extensions →
… → Install from VSIX… → account-switcher-for-claude-1.0.2.vsix
- If you're already logged in to Claude, that login is saved as your first account automatically.
- Click + Add (dashboard) or Add Claude account (status bar) → enter a name (e.g. Office) → Login Now, then log in from the terminal or the Claude Code panel. The login is saved automatically.
- Optional: Command Palette → Claude Accounts: Install
cas Command-Line Tool
- Optional: Dashboard → Enable tracking to see token cost per account.
How it works
Claude Code's normal folder (~/.claude + ~/.claude.json) always holds the active account's login, so the Claude Code panel, terminals and the claude command all work without any extra settings.
~/.claude-accounts/
accounts.json ← account list + active account
profiles/office/ ← Office's saved login (token + email)
profiles/personal/ ← Personal's saved login
bin/cas ← CLI
- Switch — the active account's latest token is saved to its profile, then the new account's token is loaded into
~/.claude. Reload the window so the Claude Code panel picks it up.
- Login — run
/login in normal Claude (terminal or Claude Code panel). The extension detects the new login and saves it to the account.
- History — everything stays in one
~/.claude, so --continue works from any account.
- Two accounts at once — a terminal for a non-active account (
cas run office or ⌘ in the dashboard) runs from that account's own folder, with projects/, settings and skills linked to ~/.claude.
- Claude refreshes tokens over time — the extension always keeps the newest token and never overwrites it with an older one.
Removing an account deletes only its saved login. History is never deleted.
CLI
cas run claude with the active account
cas list list accounts
cas use office switch
cas add Client-X add an account and log in
cas login personal log in again
cas import save the current Claude login as an account
cas usage usage for all accounts (used / left / resets)
cas resume personal switch + continue the last session
cas run office -p "hi" run another account in parallel, without switching
cas env --shell powershell print an env line for an account's profile
Notes
- Windows / Linux: logins are file-based and everything works out of the box. Folder links on Windows are junctions (no admin rights needed).
- macOS: Claude Code stores the active login in the Keychain; the extension swaps it there. After adding two accounts, run
cas usage once to confirm each shows its own email.
- Usage comes from the same data Claude Code shows in
/usage, fetched with each account's own token from api.anthropic.com. The endpoint is not publicly documented and may change — if it does, the dashboard shows "usage n/a" and everything else keeps working.
- Token cost is an API-rate estimate — subscriptions are not billed per token. Adjust rates with the
accountSwitcher.pricing setting.
- Whether you can use a work account for personal projects depends on your company's policy.
